Our FoundationStriding is an Ohio rhythm roller skating style that originated in the Springfield and Xenia region of Ohio in the 1960s.
Black roller skaters used Funk music as their inspiration in movement. A basic glide on roller skates turned into a controlled step (Stride), with a bounce to the beat.
Elbert Thompson (Trigger Cool) brought the Stride to Columbus, Ohio and the bounce is most noted to thrive at Rollerland Rink before it’s spread across town to other Columbus rinks. Through collaboration of roller skaters, spiritual cultivation, and unique styling, the Stride was pioneered to give Columbus it’s own distinction.
